The Masters. I'd put the US Open second.

Without question - The Masters.

Followed by the U. S. Open (for Americans).
Followed by the British Open (for across the pond folks).

The US Open. Just ask Phil, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and Sam Snead.

No, its the Masters, just ask Lee Trevino, Johnny Miller and Greg Norman.

In my mind the PGA has always been a notch below these 2, but Billy Casper, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Nick Faldo never managed to win it.

The British Open is in its own category. I think its great, but "back in my day" it was a much different game than what we saw here in the states--it took a special golfer to win a major on both continents. So maybe it is the most prestigious

I'd go with the U.S. Open for sure. It's always the toughest test and hardest to win.

World players tend to say The Open Championship. US players tend to say either the Masters or US Open. Nobody says the PGA. Personally, I favor the Masters.

I'd say the Masters, just because it's played on the same course every year. All of the majors are prestigious, all of them have history, and the British is the oldest, but the Masters has been played on ONE COURSE every time - every hole on that course is well known to players and spectators alike. If they ever changed the US Open so it was played on Pebble Beach every year, I might have to reconsider, but they're not gonna... I played Pebble once, 40 years ago. I should say I walked rode around Pebble (carts were mandatory) once and made a great contribution of golf balls to the Pacific Ocean Gods that day. I stopped keeping score at around 120. It was as beautiful as it was brutal.

I bet that, if you rounded up a bunch of top tier pros, international or US based, and asked them to write down, anonymously, (to avoid the politically correct replies), which major they would most like to win, the overwhelming winner would be this one:

Tied for second with a few votes would be both Opens.
Not sure that the PGA would get any, although it has gotten better in the last few years, with more emphasis on toughening up the layouts it is played on, but not much to offer in the charisma dept.

The aura of the Masters, along with its Green Jacket, permanent invite and lifelong seat at the Champion's dinner table during Master's week, is second to none for these top guys.
