A (very) rural farmer took his wife and kids to a mall in the big city for the first time ever, and everything they saw was new and amazing. Waiting outside a store for the girls, the boy and his father watched a dumpy old gal get into the elevator and the doors closed. A minute later they opened again and out stepped a very attractive bombshell, probably 20 years old.
Father: “Hey son...” Son: “Yeah Pa?” Father: “Go git yer ma.” |

When I was out to empress a nice young lady I finished the evening at The Top of The Mark ... Mark Hopkins Hotel. The small elevator was run by an operator. Some of the better department stores had them as well. Bullocks Wilshire elevator operator had the job for decades until it closed. The good news is he was transferred to another store.

Just barely.......
And now that I work in the "power outage capital of NJ" when it storms I generally take the stairs.

I agree with Bob. I thought the most classy people were elevator operators. They showed such kindness, grace and dignity. It is the job I wanted when I grew up.
I briefly lived in Flushing. The manager of the store I worked in said his parents owned the big theater there. When I moved back to Ohio he gave me a huge bag of popcorn.

I used to be an elevator operator. It didn't pay much to start with, but I got in on the ground floor and worked my way up.
