I have only built one guitar with the Spanish neck and building it with tentalones and hide glue. Actually was quite enjoyable to do.

That's actually 2 braces converging in the middle. They are wide and flattened where they come together to facilitate the way I clamp on my fingerboard. Their actual purpose is to keep the upper bout wings from having any specific resonance.

I have closed this guitar and will now do something about the binding.

Bruce, are you planning to do a slotted headstock or pegs? I realize we'll all see you choice in a few days but I am curious.

I have been using the Blanca (my previous flamenco effort) pegs for over a month now and find them MUCH easier to use than the word on the street would lead one to expect. They tune intuitively with great accuracy and hold very well. There is something satisfying about them using them. I plan to make a set for this guitar as well, and will use similar functional geometry, but a different aesthetic.

Another area I use traditional methods is my binding process. I use light rope to wrap my binding on, one quarter at a time. This is the second quarter, the first can be seen on the near side. The clamp is to keep the ends of the binding strip under control.

Bruce, I know you like pegheads but although historically correct they do not
look good on such a beautiful guitar, Just my two cents worth. Regards

I think pegs look great. I personally like the Peghed mechanical pegs. They are pretty slick.

There is a song by Santana that uses this word in the lyrics originally written by Tito Puentes in the early 1960's. It was a common description of mixed race, but had no apparent negative connotations other than describing ones background. To many people take things to litteral and Bruce is just describing a guitars different woods, nothing more nothing less.

Spanish: English:

Bueno pa' gozar "Good for enjoying" or "good to enjoy"

The author of the song is speaking to a girl who he is asking to dance to the music!

The binding is complete, and I have glued on the Fingerboard. The geomtry came out as close as I can imagine to what I hoped for. The neck is tipped into the top about a half a degree, so a straight edge is a bit lower off the top at the bridge area than the fingerboard thickness. I am after a saddle height of about 3/8" off the top.

In this picture of the sides you can see a hint of the medulary display I mentioned earlier, though I think it will be strong under finish. It will pale in comparison to the Jatoba bindings medulary display, which looks bandsawn here, though it is actually finished smooth.

I love carving the classical heel with the neck attached. The shape is controlled by the constraints of the body and the geometry of the tool. Function following form.
