What about the two teams that they were suppose to play this week? (Steelers and Texans) I suppose that they could play each other, except that they just did.

I hear you! This is simply about the NFL season. Hopefully folks will be cool!

The way the Vikings have been playing, this sounds like a blessed relief.

IMO, completing the season has always been a bit of a long shot. This may prompt significant changes and thereby increase the likelihood that they will complete the season. Or it may be an insignificant blip. Or, this could be the beginning of the end.

I think it is too early to predict a collapse of the season. But I am not optimistic about the longer term.

The NBA bubble has worked flawlessly. I'm not suggesting nobody "popped" the bubble. Just that the transgressions were few and far between.

I wonder how long it would take the NFL to mobilize a similar setup, with practice squad players and the huge number of coaches per team. We're talking a LOT of people...

They still plan on playing the games as of Tuesday night. The Titans said they’ll prepare remotely and as long as they can have a walk through on Saturday they’re good to go. Steelers said the league told them they still plan on playing the game Sunday. No one cares about the other two scrub teams apparently. Haha

I don’t think it is possible to create something that would be all that similar. An NBA team has maybe 15 members, whereas an NFL team carries 55. An NBA court is smaller than an NFL field. The logistics are therefore much more complicated, and there are not many facilities that offer all the possibilities that the NBA has secured for their bubble, let alone the facilities that would be needed for an NFL bubble.

Even if the NFL found what they would need, they would have to pause the season for At least two or three weeks, secure agreement from The Players Association, restructure the schedules for the season, and work something out for playoffs and the Super Bowl.

While there may be minds out there that can envision a viable approach to all of these issues, and find solutions to the various challenges, I can’t.

I take it back. The idea being bandied about is if they move Steelers/Ravens up to week 8 (I believe) then they won’t have their bye week until week 13.

Yea, I don't think a bubble would work in the NFL for that very reason - too many people involved. Guessing that the Playoffs will be a bubble format though.

The bubble approach has worked well for sports like pro basketball and hockey. Personally, I can’t see it working for football. If I heard correctly, the NHL has stated that they won’t do it again as the cost was too high.
