Default Slowly building a tune for release this spring - Sinking

I'm slowly building up a tune I recently decided to push to the "surface".

This weekend our bass player will add his bounce. Next weekend our electric guitar and sax player will add a whole bunch of color.

Here's the first half of the foundation (four verses and a chorus).

Feel free to comment.

Thanks,
David

Quite nice. I like melancholy. Couple comments so far.

1. Your voice is great! But your opening phrase is a little muddy and I could't understand the words. Enunciate. After that you're clean and good. But opening phrases are important. That sets the hook. You draw the listener in, or you lose him.

2. The guitar pattern needs some detail in spots. Either that or something else going on in the background. I mean it sounds very nice and stark and emphatic. But after a couple minutes straight of that it starts to get monotonous. I recommend finding a way to vary the soundscape a little.

But overall lovely and emotive.

It could be months before our band can meet to record electric guitar, sax, and real drums. My mom wanted the words, so...

Added some finger-picking on the verses. I think I'm done until this virus passes and I can get together with our lead guitar and sax player.
