Congratulations Paul! What a beautiful sounding and looking guitar. John Kinnaird's work is spectacular!

I look forward to you posting a video showcasing this beauty in the near future.

Smile Woohoo

Thanks Godfather!!! You have followed along on this entire thread, and I do appreciate your good vibes a LOT

Sent John an email just now that I edited just slightly for here:

Hey John

Just want you to know! This AWESOME INSTRUMENT has knocked my socks off.
Played it on and off all day. With and without my thumb and finger picks. Unbelievably rich and fat, both loud with the picks, and at low volume with bare flesh and occasional nails!!! Sheesh

And it is stunningly beautiful. AND By far the most comfortable guitar ever.

Perfectly balanced. If I did not want to stand, I would skip a strap at times...

The Custom neck carve we dialed in is now the best ever. Of any guitar I have EVER played. We are COOKIN' with gas.

Copying this to put up on AGF.

You RULE

I am almost worthy. Hahaha. Thank you for your artistry, skill, dedication and good humor!

Send your pics for Phebe while she is upright! She will be 101 on 7/26/21. Get those paintings while you can!!!

Be Smart, Stay Well, Have FUN

Smile New strings...

I FINALLY changed the strings on this BEAST today. The big E (which I always tune to D) finally was going dead. Since I have had no gigs I have no worries about broken strings at gigs! Hahaha

Off with the dAddarios and on with my preferred Elixir HD PB Lights. Woohoo she woke up roaring.

Also used a tiny dab of Tim McKnights Fretboard spa goo... it took a bit to sink in but I massaged it with finger tips and warmed gently with a hair dryer and it soaked in great in about four hours and now feels and looks even more luxurious...

Thanks John!

Salud

Nothing like changing strings on a guitar that’s waking up.

Beautiful instrument. I watched the video and I think I heard Al refer to the b/s as ABW but the first page calls this reclaimed Brazilian with the orange streaking giving it some unique to braz characteristic. Either way it sounded deep and warm. Love the bass response!

Yes, Al P was misled by the very old and almost black Brazilian. The golden streaks really show in the sunlight! And the African Kiatt bindings and bevels compliment it perfectly, IMNSHO. The whole thing is super pretty, and super comfortable too!

The bass is stupendous yet the whole axe is still superbly balanced. Both the trebles and mids are nice and FAT.

She goes to my tech Pat Quinn today for one of his super duper BIG flamenco style clear, thin, and super hard pick guards. They do a great job of protecting the top and I can not hear a difference in tone with the four he has done for me so far.

Play on and tune up often

Paul

Smile Some gigs coming back...

I have played this at a few of my unamplified senior/healthcare gigs recently. Pleased to report that some of them are coming back as Covid restrictions are abating … I expect to be cooking by September.

Also pleased to report this instrument is the right tool for the job!

Unfortunately, due to HIPA regulations I can not do any video recording at these gigs, but Al P plays much better than I do anyway.

Fortunately I can sing and tell stories and play harmonica, all while foot stomping and chewing gum. Hahahahaha

John and I are planning the next one.... stay tuned

Salud

Smile Thanks!

Thank You Bobby. If you are ever in San Diego please come by and you can play all three of John's Big Guns. I know you commented most favorably on that beautiful Maple 000-12 c that was yours for a bit.

Steve and Tim, your counsel and help with these more recent builds is Most Appreciated!

And big thanks to John K for working with me to make this happen!!!

Salud, and tune UP often

Paul
