I can't believe this thread was started over a year ago -- thanks everyone for your continued interest in this guitar.

My OM has now gone through an entire hot/cold cycle and I'm happy to report that it hasn't moved at all. The action is still top notch, allowing me to play heavy strings with ease.

I recently posted my original arrangement of a traditional Irish love song, "Do Chroí Álainn", using my Olson SJ in open D (http://youtu.be/2N4CUfVCJvs).

I have just attempted the same piece with my Kraut OM, tuned in CGCFGC capo 4 (effectively one tone higher than my previous posting). The guitar is strung up with a fresh set of D'Addario PB 14-59.

http://youtu.be/YrUWTPjQv3s

I relaxed the tempo a little bit compared to the Olson recording -- and of course the tone is very different.

As always, your feedback is appreciated.

Your playing and that guitar certainly carried me away. 11/10.

Thanks for listening, guys.

Took a moment to record another old tune which was previously recorded with the Olson (http://youtu.be/Xj_-8k1Oowc).

Here's "Natasha's Insomnia", performed on the Kraut:

Mau,
A beautiful way to start my day! Thanks for that.......just wonderful. Some really interesting passages inserted in there.......kind of a triplet thing going on which adds some beautiful color to the song. Was going to call it a "tune", but that would somehow take away from its beauty.
Enjoy the day!
Fred

Thanks, Fred.

It's a very simple piece, as evidenced by its structure. I think I'm only using five or six notes. You can definitely call it a "tune"... LOL

As for the 3/4 feel, the Olson recording is faster and tighter. I allowed myself some extra freedom with the Kraut.

Thanks so much for your encouragement!

This piece has a bit of an Asian feel to it. It's a genre I might want to explore further in the coming weeks.

Here's a recording I did last night with the Apogee Duet and a pair of AKG C451B.

I'm having some noise issue with the mic but otherwise I thought you might want to hear a somewhat more natural sounding track (still plenty of reverb).

Here's yet another rendition of Si Bheag Si Mhor on the Kraut OM:

Man, what a sound! Killer. The reverb in this recording sounds more "natural" to me than in some of your other recordings. Did you use less reverb or a different plugin or something like that?

Great tone, playing, and what a work of art this guitar is. I will give almost anything for a Kraut!

I'm always open to offers as I'm sure Ray is as well... LOL

Thanks, Ralph. Actually, exact same reverb and exact same amount. I've swapped the Apogee MiC for a Duet and a pair of AKG C451B -- so it is stereo instead of mono.

I would gladly give my soul, though I don't think it is worth as much as a Kraut

Sounds great.

As the man who convinced me to flog off my preamps and KM184s, I sincerely hope You're not going to make me regret that decision?!

I have a Duet that I use as a Mac soundcard; it's firewire. How are you powering yours from the iPad? I'm assuming you must be using a version designed specifically for the iPad; I must check out Apogee's website.

cheers,
Steve
