Trying to Fix an Isane DIY Repair - Good Grief!!
I just discovered Austin Lennon's (an Irish luthier) YouTube channel. In a nutshell he repairs stringed instruments for free, but requests that the people who own the repaired instruments, donate to his favorite charity. In the video below, the guitar he's working on, should have been thrown in the garbage.
The guitar is an Ovation knockoff, that looks like somebody smashed while they were having a tantrum, then decided to fix, by using duct tape, bondo, and filling the inside with packing foam. The guitar was given to Austin for free, and he decided to repair/correct it to usable condition (just for the challenge of doing so), or to be salvaged for parts. All I can say is good grief! The original "repair" - I've seen punk rock guitarist repairs that made me cringe, but this one takes the cake!

That is one huge undertaking. I can’t imagine what would make someone think that filling an acoustic guitar with expanding foam is a good idea.
Thanks for posting this. I’m looking forward to part two.

Appears to be a rogers copy ovation, not the best instruments on a good day.

I recently spent hours carefully scraping off JB weld Epoxy that was dripped and smeared all over an 1860's Martin parlor guitar. Yeah it's pretty incredible what some people will do to 'repair' a guitar.

I have a Godin nylon guitar that had the neck snap off and was repairer with Gorilla Glue. I bought the guitar and case for $25, wanting the case. The glue was oozing out of the joints, no sign of trying to make it look better. The guy said it got snapped off and he had a concert to perform therefor the hasty repair.
