Breaking in the guitar or is it the ears? Either way, same result.

Michal, welcome to the AGF!
I only watched a little of your video (saved to Watch Later) but I also checked out some of your other videos. You are an accomplished classical guitarist! Very talented. I take it this is not just a passion but your career? |

How to break in a new guitar?
Some guitars sure sound different when they are new and the older they get, the better the sound.
My two cents on this subject is because the more we play, the more we tune the guitars. And when tuning, the nut slots and the saddles smooth out by the stretching of the strings as they rub on it. So the key to “break in” a guitar is to smooth out the nut slots and the saddles. Last edited by Tom_B; 07-01-2021 at 09:59 PM. |

Skeptical of the video. Like others said just play the thing. Preferably some repertoire you know very well that you can play emotively.

I agree with the “just play the guitar” comments, but I do appreciate how your vid demonstrates the wide variety of tone one can get out of a guitar by altering how and where you attack the strings. One dimensional playing is an area many new players can address as there skills increase, and you demonstrate multi demential playing with skill and finesse
