First impressions of the Lowden compared to the Taylor:

- Much lighter and very 'refined'
- Extremely balanced
- Very rich tone and projects a lot more
- The wider string spacing is noticeable but not as bad as I thought it would be (I think I will accept this as my standard when I use this guitar more)

I bought the Lowden pre-owned so the Adirondack soundboard has opened up a bit but hopefully it will open more as I use it like the Taylor has in the last few years.

The Lowden also came with some worn-in John Pearse strings but I will be replacing these soon with some Elixir PB Nanoweb mediums (13-54) strings.

Very impressed so far and looking forward to using this as my main acoustic moving forward!

Nice - I think I recognize the signature on the Taylor though!

My 93 S35 has 2 sigs, Tom and brother Phil!

Can any Lowden owners more knowledgeable than I explain the difference between an F32 and F35 or F50, since the F32 is several thousand less expensive?

Check this out, from the GLG Co. website…

https://www.lowdenguitars.com/the-lowden-range

Any Lowden will sound great, from the most basic spec to the most luxurious. Whether the upgrades are worth the extra ££££ depends on whether you're the kind who listens with his ears or his eyes.

From https://www.lowdenguitars.com/guitar-specs :

"All 50 Series guitars come with the following upgrades as standard:

Full Palette of Master Grade tonewoods available in all body sizes (O, F, S, WL, Baritone)
Inlay pattern 1: as for the 35 Series plus hand mitred side and back purflings
Figured wood and Abalone soundhole edge rosette
Back of head facing bookmatched with front head facing
Extended and bound fingerboard
Gotoh 510 series gold/ebony tuners
Hiscox Artist case"

A lot of the 50 series upgrades are cosmetic. If that doesn't matter much, it's a substantial upcharge for 'master grade' tonewood.

Note that the 35 series also has Gotoh 510 tuners. Note also that the F32, which you mentioned, is (confusingly) part of the 'Original' series, i.e. the same level of spec as the F23, F25, etc.

F is the size, the number means both range (series) and (for the Original series and the 38 series only) wood combo.
32 are always (and have been since the very beginning) East Indian Rosewood/Sitka Spruce.
35 once was the top of the range before the Custom shop was launched and named 50 series.
The main differences between the 32 and the 35 is, first, the choice (and the grade) of woods available. Add the Abalone rosette and a thin constrasting stripe of wood on the back and that's it.
The 50, as I wrote before, are the Custom shop of the brand. The grade is the upper you can dream of, the fretboard features 21 frets and this beautiful curved end, multi-layer binding and purflings all around the guitar sides (front and back) and a center back stripe with the same woods as standard. Then you may add almost every option you wish (if you are wealthy!)

Are direct image loads not supported in this forum? Was going to upload pics of the Lowden 12-string I got today. Uploading elsewhere is too much of a hassle.

New arrival from today - an F-32 12-string, next to the PBSM 6-string I've had for a few years.
(The camera on this tablet kind of sucks doesn't it?)

Me too but wasn't prepared to spends8k. This wasn't that much. Will need some time to determine if its a keeper. Ergonomics are great but I don't like the Daddario strings it came with. They sound dead (notes die too quickly) and are difficult to move around on with the fretting hand. But ill try a few different sets.

If its a keeper I may be selling a mighty nice Furch 12-string here on AGF. That is a fantastic guitar for its price point.

Getting a "Player Grade" 023C for $2,300 from the Classifieds here fulfilled my desire for a Lowden at a price my retirement pension found affordable.
I'm very pleased.

Nice, congrats. I was £2200 for my F32 from Guitar Guitar which I think was reasonable given its condition and scarcity.
