It was a matter of replacing them with better sounding guitars as my ears developed and wallet size allowed me the luxury of getting them. All the guitars I bought were first played for an appreciable period before purchase. I broke my own rule by commissioning a build and learned from it why rules are good.
Are you saying that besides the Yamaha classical, the only other guitar you have is a custom built guitar that doesn't sound very good? Why not sell the custom built and buy a better sounding guitar?

Martin. Had a D-28 for many years and didn't realize (for my taste) I could do much better.

For me it’s Gibson acoustics. I have tried many from older B models to Song writers Hummingbirds, J15 J45. I even had a friends J45 studio for a weekend and played it till my hands hurt. I just couldn’t warm up to the tone. There is something that just sounds restrained to me in most Gibson’s. It’s disappointing because they are beautifully made and aesthetically pretty guitars.

Dreads.

Every dread I've owned.

I just can't get into them, no matter how awesome they sound. I guess it's a 'feel and fit' thing.

Some were off-the-charts exceptional...but spent little time in my home. I think the GA/OM/000 size is my sweet spot.
