Thanks John, it will be there at the BIG show for you to hear. I’d like to hear your bog Oak guitar! This will be a fun show!

There will be a lot of great guitars to check out at the show. I like the idea of this smaller show in that there will be more time to test out and talk.

Thanks Erithon! This design started out much more complicated and slowly parred down to black, red and white. I find it interesting how the imagination is so free to over complicate things.

What a mouthwatering feast for the eyes this entire thread has been. Can’t wait to see and hear these guitars in person.

Thanks SprintBob! I hope to have some of the range of my work well represented for the show.

Thanks GeoffStGermaine. It definitely has a more contemporary look and sound compared to the others I am bringing to BIG.

This grand auditorium comes with a Visesnut lightweight flight case:

Very pretty Mark. Are you planning on taking this guitar on the plane with you to BIG instead of shipping?

No, I am going to ship it and three others out to Tom's. Hopefully, I won't need to ship that many back!

Thanks,
Mark

Default Second Grand Auditorium

I have the second grand auditorium with finish on it now and am working to string it up this week. This guitar is done in my Red, White and Blue theme. The top is 40yr+ blue iron stained floatwood Sitka with bearclaw figure. The back and sides are spalted pommel figured Sapele and the neck is curly hard sugar Maple. It is trimmed in Cocobolo and tri-colored Amboyna burl. The fretboard and bridge will be Cocobolo.
The cross shoulder fret markers are silver and spalted Sapele.
This guitar has riven Sitka lattice back bracing and the top bracing is riven floatwood Sitka and Red Spruce in a X brace and lattice hybrid configuration.
The guitar has a titanium 2 way adjustable truss rod.

How on earth will you let it go, Mark? Is it difficult to make something so beautiful and then have it leave you? Or is it a joy to know that it will be out there making someone happy? Among many spectacular details, the Sapele is too beautiful for words.

Thank you Jamiejoon.

I don't ever really let them go. Many of the woods I get come from people that love the woods they provide. Sometimes they even call me to play match maker for an unusual set they discover and what they envision I could do with it. Many of the hand tools I use are made by artists that love what they do as much as I love making guitars. The guitars I make go into the hands of the musicians who use them to touch the hearts and souls of their families, friends and audiences. I am but one part of this creative biome that I am proud to be a member of.
