Thanks Tom! There is a lot of opening up you don't need to wait for when the woods are already over a 100 years old!

Thanks George, the birds mouth joint for the headstock might be the hardest part but like everything else in handwork it's only hard until it's easy. I'm selling enough of these Woodsman style guitars that is getting easier.

Thanks for commenting,
Mark

Default Bits

I have got several guitar in the finishing process after which I'll do final assembly and set up for the BIG show. I thought I'd speed things up a bit and get the tuner buttons and bridges done ahead of time. I just finished the buttons:

They are for these two guitars:

The Amboyna burl will be on the Red, White and Blue grand auditorium which also has Amboyna burl on the headstock overlay.

The Bloodwood guitar is getting Schertler matte black tuners which normally come with black Ebony buttons. I'm upgrading those to a highly polished black buffalo horn.

Very pretty guitars and tuner buttons. I would live to see a step by step tutorial on how you do those buttons.

John, I'd be afraid to put that up because I am always changing and updating the process and besides that, if anyone were to see how much time I spend doing these they would question my good judgement

No to intrude, but you two artists can discuss it over a three day weekend in New Braunfels soon!

Default Grand Auditorium Bloodwood Guitar

The finish is on the Bloodwood grand auditorium. I have the neck going from red (like the Bloodwood) down to black at the headstock. Instead of a sunburst let's just call it a sunset.

It has Schertler matte black finish open tuners and I custom made very high gloss black buffalo horn tuner buttons for them. We'll see more of this one as I go through final assembly and set-up:

Thanks Mike! This is a good guitar to stand next to my Woodsman. It makes the Woodsman look older and the grand auditorium even more contemporary.

Default Strings on Bloodwood Grand Auditorium

I strung up the Bloodwood grand auditorium this morning so I can let it settle in for a couple weeks before I do final set up for the BIG show!

Wow, that Bloodwood GA is something else Mark. Look forward to seeing this one and the other fine guitars at B.I.G.

Beautiful. That black on red is such a classic look. I want to hear this one.

Absolutely stunning, Mark. My favorite details are the fretboard inlays, sunburst on the neck, and open headstock. And, of course, the entire red-black color scheme is effective as a unifying theme.

As stunning as it is in the pictures, I have no doubt it will be even more so in person!

Can't wait to try it out!
