Usually around Christmas Guitar Center has the 10 packs on sale. I'll buy then.

Yes, I use PB Lights, so it's worth it for me to bulk up when there's a good sale.

Default D'Addario 10 Packs ?

3 packs is all I need. I don't change strings often.

Yup and have been for a few years. I like that the individual sets in the 10 pack are sealed. I'm in the process of using my last 10 pack of EJ16s but after that I'm going to go exclusively to John Pearse strings for a while. They just sound a little better to my ears, and John had me on an artist deal back in the 90's. Even though he's gone, I've always appreciated that.

Yes. I've been buying 10-packs for years.

Are you one of those people whose body chemistry ruins strings?

Yes, basically twice a year. It isn’t really even about price, it’s about convenience.

My regular D'Addario order consists of 20 Nickel Bronze (for my gigging Larrivee), 10 EJ16 and 10 EXP(now switching to XT's) for everything else. All light guage and buy 0.13's for the tops in bulk.

Yes.
Since I don't go through them that fast, I can wait for Sweetwater to run a sale on the ten pack.
EJ 16 on all except Mediums on EJ200.

Yes !

I try to buy any strings set by bunch to save.

My local store even offers a rebate when you buy a bunch of ten sets even if there are different types or brands.

I don't think so, but the more I sweat, the faster the strings deaden. I also like the sound and feel of strings that have been played about an hour, so I change them a night or two before the gig and play them in a bit practicing.

Do you buy your D'addario strings in the ten packs?

I do, yes. That's the only way I buy them, usually when there is a special to throw in an extra 3-pack for no added cost. That way I get 13 sets for the already attractive price for 10.

If you don't mind me asking Glenn, where do you find that deal? This started me wondering how many packs of EJ16's I must have bought over the years. Hundreds, for sure. Thanks

Dan

Hi Tube Sound,

I buy my strings from "Strings & Beyond," who used to be a sponsor here at the AGF. About once per quarter they have a deal where they add an EJ-16 3-pack to the EJ-16 10-pack. I need that many strings about once or twice per year, so I am alert when the time comes.

Regards,
Glenn
