"I guess we could buy "Word" if needed, but she's never mentioned it ever."
Murph, most universities will have the MS Office suite as a 'free' download for their students. I put free in quotes as you will have paid for it elsewhere in the fees etc. so it's really not 'Free' ! |

Murphy, if she has a decent cellular data plan that she doesn't abuse (i.e., isn't a social media junkie and uses wi-fi wherever possible), she can "tether" her phone to the wi-fi-only iPadPro as a wi-fi "hot spot" (mini-quasi-router). That's what I do if I can't find wi-fi on the road.

We have quite a bit of software that's available to faculty, staff, and students at no direct cost...I assume it's an investment, at least the student part: Get them using it in college and they'll want to continue using it later. Most of my papers are turned in on BlackBoard, our course management system...it lets me see the type of document when I get ready to grade...sometimes I use email, and that also lets me see doc type. I get a couple of papers each semester using Google Doc or Apple's Pages or pdf's, the rest are all Word....
