Smile Sweet spot question

I hear this all the time with short scale guitars or 12 fretters, i.e. this moves the bridge down onto the sweet spot of the top to make a more responsive great sounding guitar. If this is the case, why is the bridge not placed there all of the time and the scale length adjusted to that placement on all guitars. It seems like it is always said that is the honey hole for the bridge, but it is only moved down on short scale guitars?

Thanks, Tom
Hey Tom. Remember, almost every classical guitar in the world has a 12 fret neck, no matter what the scale length. These people play without amplification the most, and need to coax every bit of acoustic sound out of their axe.
Physics... go figure!

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for the great plugs Paul. I'm looking forward to finishing this next RP of yours. You can take a lot of the credit for the evolution of this particular shape and style.

GREAT STUFF!!! I can speak personally about Johns guitars because I've either owned or had my hands on MANY of them. I'm yet to pick one up that didn't make me smile. This is another in the long line of gorgeous guitars he has built. I'm certain the new owner will love this!

Beautiful guitar. I am in line drooling and waiting my turn to have John start my guitar. Seeing this guitar made it that much harder for me to be patient and wait.
Don't worry John, I'm a big boy, I can wait.

I hope!

I have your back and sides on the workbench as we speak. Just thinking about the best way to put it all together.

Even if it has a cutaway, that is an exceptionally nice looking instrument. I would say your aesthetics consistently place you in the top 10 luthiers that I know of. You know I am pretty traditionally-minded.

Now, to hear and play one of those!

Hey Bard. You can come to my place and play 3 right now, and soon 5!!! As I am currently the custodian of my friend Steve's 000-12c as well as my two RPs. Steve is in Mexico and does not want to travel with his best axe!!!

John has my new one at Tony's for the final finish work, and my 000-12c (#99) there so he could copy his own neck carve! Haha. Since he uses no CNC or machines every neck and every guitar is a bit different, and I am pretty sure that is how he likes it!

John, I am loving how our collaboration is progressing on these Round Peaks!

I played three gigs on the Brown Bomb today! It is definitely Hot stuff!!! And SO COMFORTABLE it is hard to comprehend how big and loud it is...

Woohoo!

Ahunadanz, you are in for a real treat!!!

Paul

Thanks John! You have done all the work. I just beg for max comfort and tone!

Well, I do keep buying, so that may be a motivator for you to keep stretching YOUR comfort zone. Mine gets better and better!!! All your guitars SOUND spectacular indeed.

Thanks Again

Boy Rob's axe is a beauty...

Cheers

I know that mostly wood goes wood, but that is a masterful combination of wood tones. All the other comments about detail I second. That is probably, no definitely, the most subtle and beautiful sunburst I have seen. God, I have a lot to learn. Lol
