SOLD: 2007 John How XC Grand Concert
For Sale: This extraordinary 2007 John How XBGC - Lutz Spruce/Madagascar Rosewood.
This guitar was originally purchased from Eric Schoenberg guitars in Tiburon, CA. It has a stunningly rich tone from treble to bass. The headroom from the Lutz spruce top is extraordinary. The Madagascar Rosewood back and sides is about as beautiful as you are likely to find anywhere. John How is an extraordinary builder who worked solo in his shop in Cool, CA (but has recently retired). Very good condition. No trades please! Here is the copy from Schoenberg's website: "A sweet 12-fret 00+ sized guitar, beautifully constructed in Cool, CA. This one is X-braced, out of Lutz spruce and gorgeous Madagascar rosewood. It is beautifully detailed, with hald-herringbone purfling, flame Koa wooden binding all around, and old-style smile bridge. It is a smallish bodied guitar with a shockingly deep, rich tone." Asking $3500.00 obo REDUCED $3400 Includes original Cedar Creek Hardshell case 12 FRET TO THE BODY 00+ SIZE BODY BODY DIMENSIONS: 14 5/8" x 3 1/2" STRING SPACING: 1 13/16" x 2 1/4" SCALE: 24.9" FINGERBOARD RADIUS: 16" NUT WIDTH: 47mm STRING WIDTH AT NUT: 41mm STRING WIDTH AT SADDLE: 56.5mm Last edited by Katonk; 02-09-2019 at 01:23 AM. Wow! I’m a proud owner of a John How Ladder Braced concert, I’d buy this in a heartbeat if only I had the $$s. What a beauty.

I thought John How retired several years ago. I never played one of his guitars, but I’ve read great things about his guitars over the years. They hardly ever come up for sale.

Another happy owner of a How LBCG guitar here. John actually suggested the X-braced model you are selling here as an alternative when I originally placed my order. Since I favor larger body guitars I often wonder if I made an ergonomic mistake in not going with the Grand Concert, but the sound of the LBCG is all I could ask for in a guitar of that size or larger.
Based on the sound of Shaun Cromwell's Grand Concert in his YouTube videos I am sure that your guitar is a winner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjsVEnuK2hU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWLqdPOpapA I believe that John retired a few years ago from the guitar building game. GLWTS,

Katonk?
That’s a term folks of Japanese ancestry born on the continent as referred to by Japanese-American born in Hawaii. Hmmmmm.
