Amy's Moveable Chords Cheat Sheet - updated
I will be leading my favorite self-designed workshop called "G Whiz" at the Fall Fling retreat this weekend at Appel Farm in Elmer NJ.
It's a lesson on how to work the neck of your guitar and enhance the songs you play with some interesting variety. The handout has been freshly updated and I offer a link to anyone who wants it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1w5yc4xd7o...sWref.pdf?dl=0 There are two pages, and here's a brief explanation of the contents: Each page begins with the scale notes written out, for each scale, by circle of fifths order. This is a handy reference for so many situations. The first three lines of the scale notes is actually three 'keys' to use as follows: M,m,m,M,M,m,dim, is the chord sequence by Major or minor through the scale. I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII is the number of each position (sometimes call nashville system) W,W,H ,W,W,W,H shows the intervals between notes in the scale. W-whole note or two frets , H - half note or one fret. Now, to the shapes themselves - Note that the four note examples all can be played as three note chords, as long as you have one each of the 1, 3 & 5 tones of the scale. So, for just one example: using the first shape on the top left, xx5433, I have two choices of a G with three notes: xxx433, or xx543x, All you need is to know where the notes are on the fret board. If you can find ROOT , these shapes are your newest best friend. The workshop goes for 90 minutes and has lots of tryout time, so I appreciate that this truncated lesson brief might cause some "huh?" out there - Happy to answer any questions!
