hi B...

I'd likely capo 2, for the open string play, and partial chord play up the neck...Not to avoid Barre chords.

Let's see ... B minor ... I'd need a B min chord, a C# dem, D maj, E min, F#min, G maj ,, A maj ... B min.. ..... I think I have that correct..

B, C#, D, E, F#, G, A, B .. Same as D major ... two #'s ..

So, my I IV V ... oops .. that would be ... i iv v .. right ... small letters, minor chords ..

I always get weirded out on minor progressions ... what is a good one ?

...

I could chord form :... Bm, Em, F#m ..
Or, use capo .. Am form .. Dm form .. Em form ..

The capo forms seem easier at first look ... but I like to push myself so I'd probably go the Bm, Em, F#m .. and impress those around me ..

Ah ha ... what about ??

E form ... Bm bare chord ,, then drop down the neck to the Em, and F#m

very rock n roll ..

...

or ......... D form ... way up neck ... the D minor form with the root at the 12 fret .. a sort of bare chord ... and then drop down neck to the Em D form and back up to the F# D form ..

Wow .. this is fun ..

What have I forgotten

PS .. what is a good minor chord progression ?

.. rock on

I have a former bandmate who believes a capo should NEVER be used. He has other very strong opinions and not many people will work with him these days.

I'm also in the "it depends" category. I would probably play it as is unless my fretting hand was required to do a lot of wild work in from the Bm position.

I suppose ... if there are two players .. have one play the no capo form and the other play a capo form ...

it will sound cool ...

and you get to use your capo ... which makes you look even cooler ....

for extra cool look ... use one of the capo's that must be screwed into position ... women go nuts for this .. they think you are like Django
