3 Custom Archtops from Artisan Archtops
Hi AGF members. I'm new to the community and would like to introduce my works.
I'm a new sponsor - you can find my link under Artisan Archtops. or - https://artisanarchtops.com/ I currently have 3 archtop guitars still available (you can read more about them from my web links) - https://artisanarchtops.com/sakura-archtops - https://artisanarchtops.com/elly004 - https://artisanarchtops.com/elly005 I recently sold my Sakura #001 to Bear Davis, an avid AGF member. You can see his post here: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=581993 Looking forward to reading on other builders works, and learning along the way. |

Nice to have you here Todd. I'm not an arch top player (yet!) but I've been admiring the many images on your website. So many elegant features!
I also found the link to the Ophelia model at the bottom of your web pages. With a 14 inch lower bout how does its sound compare with the much larger Elly model? |

Hi Colins.
Thank you for looking at my web site and instruments. I did not realize that there was still a link to my Ophelia model (and Sofia also) at the bottom of the pages. The Ophelia was a one off production to explore using billets that were not as wide as the 17" archtops that I build. It turned out great - with more of a Celtic or Parlor tone. The same person who bought Elly #001 and Bella #001, bought the Ophelia (you can see a group shot of Elly 1 and Bell 1 on the Elly #001 link - https://artisanarchtops.com/elly-001). I was not happy with the traditional cord method of bridge attachment and wood tailpiece. I think it look great, but muted to voice compared to a metal tailpiece configuration. I'm finding that the tone/voice is much more clean, rich and bell like when a metal tailpiece format is used, and you configure to get as much direct attachment to the body as possible - such as in my Sakura models. As I had noted, the tone from Ophelia is more Celtic to me - more mid and treble focused. More like an Octave Mandolin sound. I could change that I did not use the wood suspended core and tailpiece, and a deeper billet to carve from (that biller was 1/2" pr/billet, rather than the full 1") - deeper billet would allow for a arched tension creative more volume. In direct comparison to my 17" models (Elly's and Sakura's) - they have a much more developed, rich, deep woody tone. Thank you for asking and reviewing my web site. Todd |

Wow--beautiful guitars and lines!
Love the inlay on the back of Elly#5 at the top. Love the way it mimics the soundhole shape on the bass side. Great stuff!
