Thanks Lonzo. The curly figure on the Koa will really show up nicely with the finish. I like Koa trim on Cocobolo. The gold color of the Koa is a nice highlight on the red Cocobolo.

Default Checking Fit

The back is bound in and the top is cut to receive its binding and purfling. Here I am confirming a good fit before the glue comes out:

Thanks for following along!

Thanks Brent!

I have also been working on the neck. Here the neck blank is being glued up:

It has Maple-cross grained Cocobolo-Maple center laminates:

Default Colors

Here is a picture of the body mostly cleaned up. It is a little wet to show the colors:

Thanks for commenting! Koa trim on Cocobolo is one of my favorites.

Here are a couple pictures with the part set together. The fret board will be bound with Koa and the headplate will be carved into my pillow top style headstock. The headstock will also be bound with Koa:

Thanks for Viewing!

... many warm shades of brown and golden shimmer will shine on this one, nicely fitting the elegant and effortless proportions.
Another beauty.

Thanks Lonzo! I think it is coming together nicely. A lot of neck work to do this week and it should be ready for finish from there.

Thanks ukejon, when A client asks for something different like a raised rosette I try hard to say “Sure, I can do that”. It sometimes takes a lot to get there but I’ve had enough successes to not change that strategy!

Default Fretboard

Moving along on the fretboard. I am binding the Cocobolo fretboard in Koa with a Maple purfling line:

Meanwhile I am also working out the fretboard markers. They will be two toned curly Koa with a silver border. The markers will carry over the edge through the binding and serve as the side markers as well.
Here is a picture of a test one where I am using the same materials (less the binding) to be sure this will work as I am also testing how I am going to do it:

Note that the silver has sanding marks that will be polished out when I do the real ones.

Thanks for following along!
Mark
