I have an aversion to dirty rooms in the background, and blurry photos. That said, I am willing to give most the benefit of the doubt.

Talking by phone usually clears everything thing up in the b/s/t forum. I try not to get my hackles up based on a post.

So, why didn't you "buff them out" and raise the asking price?

Wow, 5 pages of replies on this topic and no mention of Wood & Steel. Is this still the AGF?

Well I did earlier in the thread mention Professional ads, that claim to reinvent the wheel and give the impression that they are doing us a favour by letting us own one of their guitars. Maybe Wood and steel fits this criteria? You decide!

Generic photos. Show me the actual guitar you're selling, not some promo shot from the manufacturer's website.

Biggest turnoff for me is when they say there is damage which 'doesn't affect the playability'. Quite often it does and they don't know enough to tell.

Model names that, for example, claim to be an authentic 1930-something guitar but were really made last year.

Ads featuring wood shavings and artistically arranged woodworking tools on a well-worn bench, persuading us that an avuncular and bespectacled gentleman has personally built your guitar, just for you (are you listening Mr.Taylor?). Any ad featuring words like 'heritage', 'artisans', 'hand crafted' and 'tradition' also get my back up-irrationally! Of course i understand this is all marketing, but doesn't make it any more digestible!
How about, 'we make good guitars, try one', and cut out the schtick?

1) Missing strings.
2) Remaining strings encrusted. Rust, dust, it doesn't matter.
3) PPF&F. If you're willing to stiff Paypal, you're certainly willing to stiff me.
4) Taking days to respond to an inquiry.
5) Descriptions that clearly don't match the guitar shown.

Most of my pet peeves have been addressed but a couple more for ad descriptions.

Calling a used guitar a "pre-owned" guitar. It is a used guitar, pure and simple.

Calling an old guitar a "classic" model, which it is not. It is old. It is not a classic. But I've have seen classical guitars called "classic guitars."

And worse yet, calling that old guitar a "vintage" guitar.

And as others have said, not knowing how to spell the brand of the guitar you're selling. I've seen "Gender" for Fender, "Squire" for Squier (a lot). "Akcustic" and "akuestick" for acoustic.

'Rare" as a pretext for a stupidly high price. Purple and yellow dog t*rds are rare but I wouldn't pay a high price for one of them

I actually don't mind a link to Reverb for photos. However, what I really hate and will cause me to read-on-by is a link to a clickbait site like Imagur or any similar thing. After that it's just a lack of photos and then a very short, poor description.

The Recent Martin ads showing various employees and saying "still hand made"

Poppycock.

Hand assembled and finished and set up by hand maybe but not what the ad implies.
