Own and love my 99 Taylor 812ce and 2020 J45. Have played many martins I like and will no doubt get one at some point but...

I have played Taylors I thought were just bright and thin, J45s that sounded dead and martins that did nothing for me really. Could be strings yes, but I agree it could also be a bad hearing day too where nothing sounds as amazing as usual. In the end, I doubt many high end Martin/Gibson/Taylor are really *that* bad but some are definitely a cut above.

Any martin D-35 I've ever played. Now D-28's on the other hand...
