Those early records are truly groundbreaking. Ride the Lightning will always be my favorite of the bunch, it has both the raw intensity of Kill 'Em All and some of the more complex structure that Puppets perfected.

And Justice for All kinda sounds boring to me these days.

I don't think I ever really listened to anything after the Black Album.

I remember buying a limited edition gatefold copy of Master of Puppets when it first came out. I didn't realise that it was supposed to be played at 45, so I played it on 33. My mates got a laugh out of that, but I honestly thought Orion sounded better slowed down

I'm personally a bigger Megadeth fan overall, but those first few Metallica albums are real bangers, so many incredible riffs. Megadeth's Rust In Peace album is still probably the greatest thrash album of all time to my ears; they come out with one of the best metal songs ever written (Holy Wars) and it ends, and before you can say "HOLY SH-" Hanger 18 starts blaring, which is probably my favourite Megadeth song ever! Talk about a 1 - 2 punch! it's so subjective I know. I also want to do the chronological journey with Megadeth.
Holy Wars - one of Megadeth's best songs for me.
