We recently completed a dread out of Paldao that looks extremely similar to your wood. It was very mahogany-like in build and sound. Honestly in many ways it was superior to Honduran Mahogany. We got our set from Steven Roberson of Colonial Tonewoods.

Paldao is a new word for me! My set came from Tom Thiel, retired, who told me where he got it, not that I remember, and that is was "tested" and was genuine Honduran, which I stake my reputation that it is not. It is harder and tighter grained (both ring count and pore size) than any mahogany I've seen, and has a different smell and a different feel under the knife. I expect it to sound like chicken . . . I mean mahogany.

That back is spectacular, and the entire box is beautiful.

I have noticed that building a spec guitar goes a lot faster than building a commissioned guitar. I can be relatively spontaneous when I don’t have to hit a series of specific requirements. That, and I already had the neck. My method has always been to build the neck to fit the body, and it was an interesting challenge to do the reverse.

I have been told that the Chrome browser has issues with non-HTTPS hosting, which is what I have. If you want to see my pictures, use a mainstream browser like Safari/Firefox/Explorer.

Thanks for the joy of watching your work, Bruce. I have to say however that I'm having the same issues with Chrome, and tried using Safari, but it actually freezes the page when I try to load.

It would be a good idea to get things working on Google Chrome imo, as it is the world's most used browser by a long way (definitely mainstream) -
65.3% of users globally, with the next most popular being Safari, coming in at 17%. Firefox and IE actually only have 5.6% and 4.1% of users respectively. - https://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php

Interesting statistics. I had no idea. But can tell you there are sites where Chrome used to work but doesn't any longer. I use it, Firefox and Safari. Safari, while not my favorite, is the one that seems to come though in every instance. All observational, not scientific.

I am curious: For those of you who are using Chrome, what happens when you go to my website? Do my picture appear there? I host my pictures and my website in the same place, with the same security level. If they show at my site, but not on the forum, then what is the difference?

I'm a Chrome user and I see Bruce's pics both here and on his website. But then, I did the security runaround that was suggested here a few months back. It worked for all the pics here on AGF as there were some others' pics within their posts that I wasn't able to view prior to the fix.

I think its because Bruce's photos are hosted on his website and its http, not https, whereas acousticguitarforum is https so Chrome stops this behaviour by default. Other threads will be showing ok if the poster's photographs are on a https site like flickr etc.

It's fixable but its personal choice if you're happy to do it - I don't know if there are any wider implications and everyone should make their own decision about it.

Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Insecure Content > then allow www.acousticguitarforum.com

You wouldn't need to change the URLs manually in order to change over to HTTPS. Most web hosting services make this painless. For hardcoded URLs there are simple tools available to make this change en masse in any decent CMS (content management system.) Regarding forum history, that content is still there. You'd just be routing that newly-secure traffic to the updated address, so http links will automatically redirect to https. Your web host should be able to help you, should you decide to go that way.

Exactly! Your webhost should be able to do this for a few buck and little other effort. Explain that you need all prior links to be redirected to the new https links. A phone call or e-mail ought to do it.
