Paul McCartney in Red Square
A&E in Concert A 2-hour world premiere special that tells the story of the ex-Beatle's historic visit to Russia on May 24, 2003. Marking the first time that McCartney had set foot on Russian soil, this concert and documentary also reveals the secret love affair that existed between the Russian people and McCartney during the Communist era.

Looks like a good show!

The thing I find funny is that they are promoting it as the first Paul has set foot in Russia.

In 1989 I was on a crew shooting a documentary on the Soviet Baseball who were in Florida for a tournament. As is the custom, there was a lot of trading back and forth -- Mickey Mouse T-Shirt for a Soviet Army Hat, Levi's for USSR flags, etc. Anyway, one of the things that I got was a copy of an album of Rock-n-Roll classics that Paul recorded IN RUSSIA! Cool album, print all in Cyrillic, etc...

I guess technically this IS the first time to Russia for Paul as the first it was the USSR...

While on my trip to FL I saw the new DVD release of "Paul Is Live" from the 1991(?) tour.

His hair is longer -- and grayer! great show though. Good DVD for fans of Macca!

Good show Sir Paul!

I particularly liked "She's Leaving Home" and "Yesterday."

Default Russian Album

I don't think Paul McCartney recorded the Russian Album in Russia. I think, at first, he only released it in Russia.

i only got to catch part of the show, unfortunately -- great from what i saw of it though. what a beautiful place to play (and observe) a show!!!

what i wouldn't have done to have been born 20 years prior to live thru "beatlemania" -- as a beatle fan, and music fan in general, it still brings a tear to my eye every time i see vintage beatles footage.....such an amazing effect 4 guys had on the world as we know it today!

Besides watching the people in the audiences faces, the best part was hearing that the Beatles music "helped prepare" people for the fall of communism!

Paul's voice is just as good now as it was in 1965. What a great show that was!

I saw the last hour last night and the beginning this morning.

Interesting the way the Russian scholars view the whole Beatles phenomenon.

The show makes it look like the Fab Four took down Communism.
