Default 2008 Tippin Crescendo, Madagascar/Italian $7000

2008 Tippin Crescendo, Madagascar & Italian Alpine Spruce, $7000

Full, rich, loud tone, great responsiveness and playability. Gorgeous Madagascar rosewood. Perfect balance between traditional and modern, with less sparkle than a Braz Crescendo. I actually prefer it to the Braz Crescendos. I think itís fuller and less modern-sounding. Has the complexity of a traditional 000 but with more punch and treble articulation. A great guitar for a fingerstylist who wants the dynamics and responsiveness of a professional instrument without the expense of a new one. Bought it used in 2015 and Bill Tippin gave it a clean bill of health when I visited him in Marblehead in 2016. Itís got a nice variety of minor dings and scratches (and one big one by my finger in the photo, which Bill said could be repaired by someone whoís good at nitro, although it doesnít bother me). Beautiful two-tone arrowhead fretboard markers with Tippin logo at 12th fret, burl rosette, curly maple binding that includes fretboard, ebony bridge and fretboard. Waverly snakewood tuners that are not original. I had them installed myself, replacing the gold butterbeans. Reason for the replacement: When I bought it the guitar was in a Calton case which was one of the bad Caltons, with disintegrating interior around the headstock, which created a fine dust that was messing up the tuners. Plus cosmetically I donít like a lot of metal on a non-blingy guitar like this so I think itís an improvement, more in sync with the Madagascar colors. Itís currently in a Martin case (see photos). Iíve kept it humidified and babied. $7000 plus Paypal, shipping. A few photos posted below. For more go to: davidsand.com/tippin

The specs:
Nut width: 1 3/4
String spacing at saddle: 2 5/16
Scale length: 25.4
Depth at tail: 4 1/4
Depth at heel: 3 1/2
Lower Bout width: 15.5
Upper Bout width: 10.5

Smile Whooo....

This is the prettiest Tippin I have seen! Love the snake Headstock. Nice upgrade with the wood button tuners.

Kudos on the pics at your website. Well worth the visit!

FYI, as usual Photobucket pics will not show on my iPad. Sheesh, PB is the worst.

Nice NICE axe, and best on this

Paul

Thanks, I got rid of the Photobucket images, used postimage.org instead. Didn't realize Photobucket has changed.

Default Beauty....

I never thought I'd see the day, David. I thought this one would go to the grave with you. I can only imagine how this one sounds knowing how discerning you are. This must be a sensational guitar. Good luck in ensuring this goes to an appreciative home.

Yeah it's amazing. If I didn't need the money I'd never sell it. Anyway I'm playing it more now that I put it up for sale. You know how that goes.

Indecision bump. Haven't bumped in a while, it's gone way down the list, getting iffy about selling it, have been playing it more and enjoying it so much. Let's see if I get any nibbles, maybe we'll call it a day.
