Default Rockbridge 000 Cedar/Brazilian -- SOLD!

(Sold off forum)

SN 57/05, built to order in 2005 for a well known flatpicker. I bought it from him in 2013 and while it was my main guitar for a few years, I’ve always favored 12-fretters. I recently received my new, custom built for me 12 fret 000 and the Rockbridge just doesn’t get played any more. It’s way too good a guitar to sit in the case, so here it is. It’s got a cedar top with Brazilian back & sides. The scale is 25”. The neck width is 1 3/4” at the nut, with 2 3/16" spacing at the saddle. Action currently is just over 4/64" treble and 6/64" bass. There is plenty of saddle available to adjust that to your liking.

This is a wonderful sounding guitar with incredible sustain. It responds well to a light touch or hard flatpicking, with none of the limited headroom issues cedar is supposed to be known for. I recently had the frets leveled and crowned so fret wear is minimal/negligible. It is currently strung with Elixir nanoweb 12-53’s with just a couple of hours of playing time. There is a K&K Pure Mini installed, and I’ll include the K&K preamp. I no longer need it as my new axe has the Trinity system.

Cosmetically, the cedar top shows a lot of dings (supplied by previous owner) especially on the right side of the upper bout as well as to the right of and below the pickguard. I’ve done my best to show that in the last few photos. There are also some scuff marks on the back as well as one hairline scratch through the finish, again shown below. Finally, there are a couple of finish cracks extending from the bridge. I've tried to show these too. When I had the fret work done, I asked the luthier about them. He assured me they were just in the finish and even looked inside with a mirror -- no sign of any structural cracks. I just want to show the cosmetic defects as a matter of full disclosure. As you can see in the photos, it’s a very nice-looking guitar from a few feet away.

Price is now shipping and Paypal included, lower 48 only. If for any reason you’re not satisfied, let me know within seven days after you receive the guitar. I’ll take it back and issue a full refund. I'll even split the return shipping cost with you!

Cool guitar! I had a cedar cocobolo that I traded away a while ago, but my parents live near Lexington and my buddy Burr has at least three Rockbridges. What a great company. GLWS.

Good lord. Hard to beat a deal like this one.

Rockbridge produces some of the best guitars anywhere, at any price.

Could you add a pic or two of the finish cracks? I think that might be scaring folks off. Are the cracks sort of like the famed Gibson nitro streaks?

True dat, but their shop is actually in Charlottesville....

Our workshop is open to the public by appointment only. Come try out some of our demo models, and pick out the wood for your own custom guitar.

Thanks for the suggestion Luke. I can't get them to show right now using a flash but I'll try it in the morning when I can get some decent light to reflect at the correct angle.

I'm not familiar with the Gibson nitro streaks you mentioned.

The shop is in downtown Charlottesville, seven blocks from my house.

However, Randall Ray still lives in Rockbridge County (Lexington), and does some work on guitar bodies in his home workshop, if I am not mistaken.

As recommended above, I added a couple of photos of the finish cracks. I also added a comment about my luthier inspecting the top from the inside, with no signs of any structural cracks.

That's true as best I know.
