"What we have here is a failure to communicate".... lol
This is a perfect example of street smart vs book smart. I'll take street smart any day....

GC having a bad label is one thing. Having a mis-labeled block is another thing. Something is not adding up for me.

Pretty tough situation. I wouldn’t know what to call it either. I don’t think the guy was lying or stupid. Just a confusing situation.

Telling a lower ranked employee that his manager is either lying or stupid is not a helpful or positive way to register a complaint, TwoMM. The clerk has no way to implement any changes or to help you, either one. It’s a conversational dead end, and it doesn’t serve any purpose other than to let you vent.
As I wrote in my earlier post, had you made that statement to me when I was working in retail I would have made polite murmurations of some sort, then immediately remembered something in back that I needed to attend to. It’s that simple. whm |

So how much did venting at a minimum wage employee about something he had no control over improve your day? Was it worth it?

Im sure hes not trying to be dishonest - he probably doesnt know how to handle this and has to do what his employer tells him to do -you cant fault the fellow - it could mean his job.
Might be better to just wish him well and keep looking-

Wade -- not to point too fine a point on it, but I think starlings do "murmurations" during migrations, but GC managers don't. I normally wouldn't mention it, but it's one of my favorite words. |

I’ve also seen the word “murmurations” used in connection with birds, but it’s the colloquial usage of the word that Charlestonians of my mother’s generation employed. There’s both a verbal elegance and precision to it in that meaning, which is why my sister and I still use it that way. There’s also the old-time Charlestonian usage of the word “pixilated” - to indicate someone who’s slightly daft, or perhaps just marches to their own drummer - that I don’t use as often since the word has taken on new meaning in this Digital Age. But “pixilated” used to be just as archaic as “bumbershoot” for “umbrella” or “throwing a fantod” for “throwing a tantrum.” Anyway, “murmurations” is a wonderful word, and I think it’s more than flexible enough to support both biological and sociological meanings. More power to both of them! Wade Hampton “Outdated Charlestonian Words” Miller |

My only thoughts about this situation are that the people in Guitar Center are not anywhere near as knowledgable about all the brands' product lines as people on internet message boards are, and that saying people are lying generally does not make a situation better.
Sometimes they have things mislabeled (both in the store's favor and in the customer's favor at times), we have probably all seen it, but there's not a lot to be done |

No need for apologies, and you weren't corrected, you were just given a previously unknown definition and perspective on a grand old word.
Polite murmurations are our friends....I deploy them whenever needed. It's much more genteel to use polite murmurations to deflect someone rather than using the pointy end of a bumbershoot. whm |
