Good execution on cutting out the cracks. Martin has been known to cut a narrow section out of a top, presumably to remove a pitch pocket.
Some luthiers use a wash coat of thin CA on crack-prone hardwoods. I do think it would help if the wood has undetected checking, but I am not sure if it actually prevents future cracks. The best way to prevent new cracks is to make sure the wood is as dry as it will ever be before gluing on the braces.
A lot of this pre-existing cracking comes from poor seasoning of the boards prior to resawing into guitar sets. Surface checking can be quite deep, and may necessitate discarding a slice or two from the outside of the boards. Sometimes this can be a hard pill to swallow when the wood is expensive and rare.
