The JM Solo with the FS works great! GC had the FS for $15 a few months back, and after getting it I have to say it's a must. Makes selecting, cuing up, and stopping loops SO easy.

To the OP... yes, just keep the tune going in your mind and stop the loop right when you "hear" the first chord kicking back in. Takes a little practice, but you'll get it.

I've been using the RC-2 for over a year now, with a keyboard pedal for stopping. It's fits my pedal board, which is terribly overburdened but now i'm wondering if bumping up to the RC-30 might be the right call. I'm gonna have to head to the local music store and do a little research. Thanks for the info - you got me thinking and that's what i was hoping for....

Default Boss RC2

With the RC2, I found it difficult to time the end of a loop. Then I added a Boss FS-6 foot pedal. Without the foot pedal the RC2 requires a double pedal tap to end the loop and I am not coordinated enough to play and double tap on time at the same time. With the FS-6 you can end the loop with a single tap. But by the time you pay for the RC2 or RC3 + FS-6 you are getting near the cost of the RC30

I already had the external footswitch. The RC-3 works fine for me as a home user.

Default Looping on the RC30 2nd channel

I am sure this has already been discussed, however, I need some help.

I got the RC 30 looper and love it but I am confused about the recording.

I record a loop on the 1st channel, I then switch to the next channel and attempt to create another loop. A few seconds into me creating the loop, the loop starts playing back automatically and I am not finished yet?

I need to be able to create a loop, then switch to the 2nd channel and create another loop before the playback starts automatically. If I remember correctly, it does the same thing on the 1st channel as well. When I begin the 2nd loop, the playback starts before i am done.

This has to be an easy fix, if anyone can shed some light on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Marc

This looks a little complicated for me, but I'm interested in a looper. I just put a bid on the RC-3 which looks like it can do a lot but doesn't require such a steep learning curve.

I just ordered the Yamaha THR5A. Now if you have an effects amp, should the looper go before or after then feed through the aux in?

Cool KISS

Keep It Simple - one measure loop and polish your timing this way first .
I started with a Digitech GNX4 it had monster amp & cab modeling - drum machine
it was a real nightmare to fully comprehend .

My present looper is T.C.Helicon's Voice Live 3 X - another monster to master but - - -

I'll do it , you will too , relax ..........

In on 1.
Out on 1.

Just keep at it. It will become second nature.

I started with the Boss RC20 back in the day. Switched to the Boomerang III and it's a huge improvement. Functionality, work flow, and sound.

I dove in headfirst and started with the Boomerang III as my first looper. LOVE it. It has changed my live show exponentially (and my tip jar).

Kid is right- the key is practice. Timing is everything. Repetition is muscle memory. Then it becomes pretty simple. But every now and then you're still going to have a bad trigger when playing live. Hell even Ed Sheeran does once in a while. Stick with it after a happy accident!

And don’t forget to experiment with the one shot mode. I use it to fake a dropped D. I record an actual drop D chord and let it fade to silence. Then, when I am playing in D I bring it in alongside the D chord and it gives a lovely deep resonance which is so lush.

Also, as far as the RC3 is concerned I have a vein tap footswitch attached. This allows me to instantly kill the loop and moreover when you hold it down it clears the loop without that annoying 2 second playback. The other switch on the vein tap moves the patches.

The vein tap I have is the silent type - works superbly.

Lot of helpful responses in this thread. I have a looper (Ditto) and am thinking about adding it to live performances and playing some lead/solo breaks during songs.

When do you actually record the loop? Using the song Dead Flowers as an example. Right after, "and I wont forget to put roses on your grave" is a good time for a solo over the D,A,G chords. My question is at what point do you actually record the loop so that you can go seamlessly into soloing after the word "grave"? I've seen people just play the D,A,G chords through once (while recording) then starting the loop and soloing but it doesnt seem natual for an empty bar of three chords prior to soloing.

Default Rc30 tip, might work with Rc3 also

You can also switch the pedal to initiate when you press down, not when you let up. By default it initiates when you let up on the pedal. I keep much better time when it starts the new loop right when I press down.

Exclamation Microphone A B switcher

I have an RC30 looper but I want to be able to use a single microphone set up so that I can use a foot-pedal to switch the mic from the PA to the looper to lay down a vocal loop, and then switch the mic back to the PA.
Most people Ive seen use two separate mics - one for the PA and one for the Looper. Can anybody suggest a suitable switcher? The nearest Ive got to solving this is a Boss AB-2 which would work except that the sockets are unbalanced 1/4inch jacks whereas I want to use microphone XLR cables.

Single button loopers are almost universally frustrating. I started with a Boss RC-1 and made a dual button auxilary footswitch, which I knew would be necessary before purchasing any single button looper.

I recently went to an Electro-harmonix 720 looper because it had the second button built in. Although I was simply looking to reduce to a single piece of equipment I found that the 720 has some really cool features including 10 slot loop storage and the ability to set the stop function to fade loops out rather than an abrupt stop.

The Electro-harmonix 720 is everything I want in a looper. What I didn't want to do is purchase an overly-complex looper that I would end up not using.
