Default '59 Fender Bassman...review....

Well I got my new Gretsch hollow body guitar and wanted to test it out last night with the '59 Fender Bassman re-issue amp...The room was a medium sized gymnasium. I cranked it all the way up to see what it would do...it shook the walls and filled the whole room with extremely loud sound. This is an extremely powerful amp. Next test was medium volume, it sounded really good. then the other musicians arrived and I played with them at really low volume and still stood out very well. This amp sounds great at all volumes, HOWEVER, it's too much to lug around every night. At 53 pounds, you need a dolly to bring it into the gig. Then loading it up at night is another chore, bringing it back into the house, yet another chore...it's just too much. So it'll stay in my guitar room for recordings only.

Get the Blue Cube Artist. Its all 80 watt and based on the Bassman circuit; 35lbs. I have one and use it with my Gretsch Hot Rod 6120.

I drag my '59 Bassman Ri everywhere. In fact, it's my grab and go.

My big amp is a '58 5F8-a, High Power Tweed Twin. It's got pounds on the Bassman! LOL I probably drag it out to a third of my gigs. I think it's close to 70-75 lbs. But, the beast of them all was my old Mesa Mk IV.... 85 watts, 85 pounds in a 1x12! Crazy!

I never knew I would love an amp as much as I do my Bassman. It fills a room like very few other amps. It sounds great at any volume. It is my practice amp at home as well... Although, at home the Twin gets just as much use.

A very good buddy of mine has the Blues Cube Artist and it surprises me with how good it sounds. I was sorely tempted a few months ago to do a sell of and acquire one....

Get a ZT Lunchbox. At just 9 lbs, it's all you'll ever need.

I sure LOVE mine!

Well I also bought at Vox C4TV and a Mesa Boogie Rosette. So I'm all set for amps at this point.

The Rosette will probably end up being my goto amp.

Mine is also an early model, 1991 I believe. The tweed covering got a lacquer job somewhere down the line and it's still in pretty nice shape.
