Talking effect recommendation

Could someone tell me what would be the best overall use sound effect device for church music [contemporary]? Also, has anyone tried Genz Benz Shenandoah 100 [2003 model]? Please tell me what u thought of that amp. Thank you.

Personally, I think all you really need effects wise for and acoustic guitar in a church setting are Chorus and Reverb. I use a Boss Dimension C chorus pedal and the built-in Reverb on my Marshall AS80R. It works for me, without being overdone.

I agree with the necessity only of chorus and reverb.

Don't get the Danelectro Milkshake Chorus. That's what I have, and it's cheap, but it doesn't sound good at all. Even those who don't play guitar have told me that it doesn't sound real good.

Can't you let the sound guys add in some reverb if needed?

That's what I do. I've got a TC Electronic chorus (one of the best) going into a Baggs PADI and into the system. The sound person adds reverb to everything (channel by channel) as needed.

Simple, and sounds really good in the house.

Also, chorus is one of the most overused effects... it's easy to start to "not hear it". You know (in my opinion) that you're getting it right when people notice your sound but not your chorus. I've gotten to where I don't even use it anymore except on heavily distorted electric, and just barely, even then.

Here's one source for the TC Electronic Chorus. You can find it cheaper, but that'll give you a magnitude.

And here's the Baggs PADI (yes, it's a pre amp).
