pics of goldtops of course arent great to look at like check the flames out guitars. its the variety that lies within the goldtops that to me is the most interesting fact.
also thought it would curb my appetite to limit my joy..

still the pain of GAS is never cured when your a sick sick man

and your R4 may never turn green like the old beaters bec of the modern finish hence now the murphy aged look is in fashion.

plastic surgery for guitars and make overs to make em all haggly

I love goldtops, the old worn ones with that green tint..
my R4 from 98 is still just.. goldtop
More easily found, and Asian-made, but with Epiphone on the headstock, the Jack Casady bass, based on the matching Les Paul Signature bass. It's always been available in the gold top color scheme too. Unique sound, matches well with acoustic guitar too -- as you might expect.

Since 2014 they went back to the older green/gold look and I think they will look cool with age. I love Goldtops and have owned 4 historic Goldtops and here's the two I kept, and they are going nowhere, notice the greener color...

2019 R4

2014 R7

I prefer goldtops to flametops, but I had these first

Why have 5 Les Paul type guitars? Well they all sound different. I bought them to compare different types of pickups and hardware, and they all sounded so good I couldn't sell them.

I've seen a couple of interesting vintage gold tops. As time went by the finish began becoming transparent and the owners began to discover lovely flamed tops peeking through underneath. Funny, huh?

I know opinions vary, everyone has them, etc., but IMO, the Les Paul Standard is just simply the most beautiful guitar ever made...fell in love with them in the early 70's, and, to me, there's nothing that compares to them.

For you, a '74 Kalamazoo Small Script (pre-production) Standard:

Man, that wall of Paul’s is pretty darn impressive. I’m not even sure what to say about it as I am in all of it (or is it in lust of it)

I only have one Gibson Les Paul. A ‘96 Studio - because it was all I could afford. It surely does not look as nice as the ones hanging on that wall, but by golly it sure plays in sounds nice. I own several electric guitars, but there’s just something about the Les Paul.
