How to deal with a missing tooth.
So my 7 yo grandson lost a tooth at school. Not wanting to miss out, he figured he'd promptly write a note to the Tooth Fairy advising of the event. Drew a picture of said missing tooth for good measure. Wise guy in the making? Made me laugh!

Ya gotta love it. It’s such a great event in a little kids life, and even after they figure out the tooth fairy bit, it’s still a great event. And of course we don’t let them know that later in life the poles reverse and instead of getting money under their pillow, there’s a bill waiting when they lose a tooth!
OTOH, your mouth is one of your most important body parts - it’s worth every penny Rick (retired dentist) PS - Colby has his anatomy down pretty well in that drawing. Future career maybe?

We have found over the years that the Tooth Fairy seems to know everything. Good for your son.

That kid has a future in business - or injury law. Personal mishap - pay me!

That’s fantastic. He has a good command of the written word for a seven year old. Short and to the point!
My six year old son lost two teeth at once. He swallowed one of them and was concerned he would not be reimbursed for both teeth so he also wrote the tooth fairy a note: IMG_1637697686.662734.jpg It reads: Tooth fairy, I had two teeth but one of them fell out and I can’t find it. Thank you, Henry |

That drawing clearly shows a secondary, rather than deciduous tooth! I hope you've let him know THAT one's never growing back!

Daniel, that's sweet. Make sure you (or his parents) save the note. I wonder how much money the Tooth Fairy leaves now? It just to be $.25 when I was a kid, under the pillow.

A quarter's still plenty, for a 6-year-old. Just make sure it's a shiny new one.

My daughter (his mom) is definitely saving that one! The Tooth Fairy is awfully generous in that household. It’s $5 a tooth now!

Man I could use a tooth fairy about now. Lots of dental stuff this fall, yikes - thanks to radiation years ago, the gift that keeps on giving. Ironically, I still have my wisdom teeth (at 61) but one recently became pretty infected, so I "lost" that one...... I guess I'm no longer as wise as I once was......
But I have a big grin at the drawing and associated request. Thanks for sharing.... John

It is an odd time of life as an older parent. I pay when my daughter lost teeth and I pay when I lost teeth. I pay for all of our teeth to be cleaned… actually, I just pay for everything, don’t I?
