Default THIS WEEK ON SOUNDSTAGE:Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris

Check your local listings for exact dates and times: this airs tonight for alot of folks
http://www.pbs.org/wttw/soundstage/airdate.htm

A great venue, a great tour, two great artists and a great performance. So it was for icons Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles before a sold-out crowd. Their concert together, one of only a handful in the U.S., followed the release of All the Roadrunning, their long-awaited rootsy collaboration. That special night has been captured in this unique Soundstage episode. Highlights include the title track “All the Roadrunning,” Emmylou’s “Red Dirt Girl” and Knopfler’s “Speedway at Nazareth.”

A preview of the set list is available at:

We saw her here in Calgary on February 11. She didn't have her usual band with her. She was playing with a gentleman named John Starling, and a few other very talented guys! It was a relatively small, intimate, and unplugged concert and very very good!

We watched them on Soundstage last night. Bunch of very accomplished musicians.

Emmylou's voice is so pretty that I don't much mind having to concentrate hard to figure out the words.

just wonderin'...did anyone else watch rikki lee jones last week?
i thought she was fabulous but, where'd all that weight come from? the last time i saw her (admittedly a good bit ago) she was sultry and sexy and a fabulous performer.
girls's still got the lungs though!
rikki is one of thse artists not everyone warms up to..she unafraid to experiment. her "naked songs" and "pop pop" are two of my alltime favorite cd's and also two of her most conventional but, i love them all.
seems odd no one mentioned her on soundstage...

Default Thanks for the heads up!

I would have never been able to see this if you hadn't let me know it was on! Thank you very much for the heads up. I never read the TV guide and had no idea this show was out there. I literally read your post at 6:59 PM PST Thursday night and ran in to catch the show at 7:00. Awesome show...

My only question is ... it's 8:48 PM PST Friday night... what should I watch now?

Public broadcasting sucks where I live!! What I get comes out of Bowling Green University in Ohio. Absolutely horrid programming 95% of the time. And who are these creatures on Austin City these days anyway?

I was all primed for the show and then the local PBS affiliate had two back-to-back fund-raising specials and cut out the regular weekly Sat. night shows. Although I don't dislike Elvis (but I'm tired of the reruns of old TV specials), I'd rather have seen the Knopfler/Harris show. Maybe they'll preempt something else to run the Soundstage later????
