I've been saying this for years...
After I took decades to discover it. But I'm not sure your examples are different enough. Maybe playing some single-note runs and arpeggioed chords would reveal more of the differences.
I have two dozen picks of wide variety. I've concluded that thicker picks and stiffer picks add volume and bass; a sharper beveled edge adds treble; and different materials have their own effects. Thank you for continuing the research...

mmm, I'm glad that you have now discovered this aspect Kevin, and so I watched your video.
However, you omitted to define what uoi considered thin, medium, or thick,or to mention that there is also a difference of mass, pick shape, tip profile (bevel) polish/finish and material. Obviously, we will all have individual tastes, skilllevels, and styles. This might be of interest : https://youtu.be/8bBReQVEdaU

I bought some new strings online recently, the shop dropped in a free plectrum, strange thing with kind of velvety texture to it, very different sound to most plectrums with a smooth finish. Very soft sounding.

I reckon that free picks are worth every penny that you pay for them.

I probably have a 100+ pic's... For taming a brighter guitar and my preference is the Large Triangle ULTEX 1.0-1.14 the thicker the better for bright guitars.
I keep trying other pic's I have even bought the Dunlop Primetone 1.5 thinking Dunlop is Dunlop but no it's the ULTEX material sound I like..So Yes pic's to me have a bigger influence than strings... |

I agree that picks are more influential on sound than strings. And I really like your Tennessee Whiskey cover, thank for sharing.
