Default another Emerald (X20) on Reverb in the last day

I have no interest in the outcome. Just an FYI.

It looks really nice, but that price seems a bit optimistic to me. He mentions it's a custom neck, but doesn't say what was customized other than the headstock.

I think it's just the curve at the end of the fretboard. Standard now, of course.

The asking price is, frankly, ludicrous.

The slotted head stock is not cheap, nor the woody veneer. I'd bet that the listed ad price is the original purchase price, or very close. The asking price is wildly optimistic for a used instrument. But if you don't asks, you don't gets. Just not from me.....

I did two custom orders. On one I asked them to shorten the fret board from 24 frets to 20 frets (to avoid interfering with my strum stroke - your arm drapes across the bevel differently than a hard corner). That was a minimal charge. On the second custom I asked for the same, but the revised 2020 scalloped fret board came out during my build. They asked, and I said it was OK to use that scallop instead, and it has worked out.

Golly - I'm starting to think my 2010 X7 with the chip in the curly maple veneer might be worth something!

Advertise it as ‘reliced’

It certainly is gorgeous but the price is absurd

I could get three X20s and have some cash left over. Of course my X20 doesn't have a veneer and was ordered in 2013. That said, I did compare it to some 2018 Emeralds. Mine had weaker bass than the X30 but held its own against the newer X20s. If I had to do it over again, I might go the X30 route, but the X20 is too good of a guitar for me to let go just for that extra bass.
