D'Addario ECG25 Chromes 12-52 (wound G)/ultra-low action/tailpiece flush with the top and all five springs mounted, the way Leo shipped them in 1954 - sounds big, full, not at all edgy or metallic, and I can still do reasonable bends...

Strat Strings
D'Addario NYXL
.010-.046 Started using these when it made a night and day difference on my Gibson 335. Haven't used anything else since.

On my "traditional" Strat (I also have a dual humbucker model, and a Variax Strat-type) I always use the Fender pure nickel "Jimi Hendrix set" which is the same as the old Fender 150L set that I used to buy decades ago. And yes, they're more-or-less the set Jimi used to use back then too.
They run .038 to .010 -- that's an extra-light bottom, which is rare these days. I think pure nickel (not nickel planted) wound strings sound particularly good on vintage or vintage-alike Fender single coils.

The Wilkerson roller nut on my Strat Plus limited the use of higher gauge strings. So been using 9-42 for many years and that is what I am use to. Having got a new Ultra might try some 10`s.

When I had a strat, the first thing I figured out how to do was lock out the tailpiece. I was taking jazz lessons at the time so I probably used .011's with a wound G string.

I've been using GHS Boomers, literally for decades. For standard tuning, I use the .10-.46 lights; for open tunings and slide work I use .11-.50 or even .12-.52. This is for Strats, Tele, or the PRS, playing blues/rock/funk and high-decibel mayhem.
I love the punch, brightness and harmonics of these; they might not be optimum if I were playing jazz standards...for that I just use acoustic and roll off the highs a bit, or just use the PRS, which will do anything I ask of it.
