and a bunch of guitars and mandolins I've made ... OM, OO, acoustic bass, cittern, octave mandolin, mandola, etc. ... some of which I've kept.

This would be really awesome if it were hollow and filled with water and real little fish. An aquarium guitar!

Those look like taxidermy fish cast in resin.

I've seen blanks for turning of a variety of things imbedded in casting resin.

They build a form and pour in the resin. Sometimes draw a vacuum to remove any air.
