12 String Guitar Standard E or D?
Both my Martin D12-28 and Taylor 150e. are tuned down to Eb with Elixer lights. IMHO this reduces tension on the guitar AND my 60 year old fingers.
I use a G7 12 string capo with a compensated pad. It works really well and the guitars stay in tune with capos all the way up to the 5th fret. Beyond that the Martins neck gets a bit thick and it isn’t as effective. Bothe guitars are about 6 years old and have no signs of stress, such as belly bulge or high action.

I got a capo for a 12 string, because my 6 string capo would not work well. I have it tune to standard D and put the capo on the 2nd fret. Works fine for me.
