Beautiful work, as always, Mark. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I’m fascinated by your eye’s ability to always bring different elements together in such a harmonious manner…shapes, textures and color palettes.
I was looking forward to meeting you at BIGv2, though I understand, too well, how the unexpected chaos life sometimes throws at us can sometimes step in our path. Good luck with your chaos, and I will be looking forward to the next opportunity.

Default 000 Crossover Strung up

I have the 000 crossover strung up and will do the final set up late this week. So far it sounds great! It is an easy guitar to play:

There are many firsts on this model such as it has a full florentine cutaway and this is my first crossover with an elevated fretboard:

It is also my first crossover with a sound port and arm bevel:

It all makes for a very comfortable guitar to play.

Thanks for viewing!

Thanks Jamiejoon. I do feel like I am entering my golden age. I’m very excited about setting up my new studio. It will help me along on my evolving path as a guitar builder. There is a lot in store for Vermont Hatcher guitars!

Default Finish is on "The Tree" GA guitar

The finish is on the Greta model "Tree" GA guitar. I look forward to setting this on up next week:

Monday I will be shipping out two more guitars to the BIG show and the Cross-over is getting shipped to PA. That leaves finishing up this guitar and the Old Town Woodsman and then it's aloha New Hampshire. This will end my New Hampshire years and it will be the beginning of the Vermont chapter in my guitar building career.

Beautiful "Tree" guitar, Mark.

New Hampshire's loss is Vermont's gain. I look forward to seeing and hearing what your Vermont chapter brings.

Thanks Nemoman, We are scheduled to close in Vermont on Sept 13. There will be some set-up time but I know the drill. I'm excited to be setting up a new studio! I have a lot's of new ideas for guitars to come.

Default Calton Top Shelf Luthiers Series

Calton Cases started a Top Shelf Luthiers series and featured me on their last post.
That was nice of them!

That's awesome Mark! And well-deserved!!!

I have to say, this quote from the article gives me great hope:

"Starting out was rough for Hatcher, who noted it took two years to make his first guitar; his only guide was a book titled “Guitarmaking: Tradition and Technology” by William Cumpiano and Jonathan Natelson.

Thanks Treenewt, I do think that is still the best book to use when first starting out building guitars.

Default Grand Auditorium Tree Guitar Strung Up

I have the Greta model grand auditorium strung up. On first playing I was very happy and impressed with the rich balance and sustain. This is a fairly traditional design which let's the woods do the talking although we do have a bit of abalone up top. The combination of the Desert Ironwood and Black Ebony make a great trim combination for this Tree guitar.

I have a bit of a sunburst on the neck and the natural shading of the Desert Ironwood headstock overly adds a bit more of the same type of shading as it goes up to the top.

Thanks for viewing!

.. if that is the last one to be finished in your “old” shop in NH it certainly is a veeery worthy one and the last in an incredible series leading up to it.
I am sorry I never could visit you there, as much as I would have liked to, but hopefully some day in the new one.
As Covid also prevented me being at BIG now, I console myself with a Greta unlimited that keeps on opening up and sounds incredible.
Best of luck for the transition and the new start!
