Default NGD on the way (back to the shop) - Froggy Bottom H12

Hey Gang,

It's a good day here in Switzerland. Maybe some of you that follow the international classifieds have noticed that I'm liquidating a few guitars because I had a chance to buy a Froggy Bottom H12 limited (Adi/ EI Rosewood) from the tfoa.eu.

Here she is: https://reverb.com/item/34260406-fro...dirondack-2009

There is a bit of a backstory to this one, because the Froggy in question has actually been on Reverb from a private seller for quite some time, although for a pretty high price. I contacted the lady a few times, but she wasn't interested in either my trade offers or in discussing the price. Finally she told me that she was going to trade it in to TFOA on a new Goodall. She said that they offered a very fair trade in price - which I believe.

When the TFOA listed the Froggy on their website I contacted them immediately with a few trade offers and asked their lowest cash price. They took a whole weekend getting back to me and by the time I said that I would take it, someone else had swooped in and reserved it. Too bad I thought. GREAT NEWS thought my wife!

Anyway, yesterday I got the word from TFOA that the guy that reserved it ended up buying something else and that the Froggy was now reserved in my name - do I want it? YES was the answer! So the Froggy is now on it's way to my house, for about 30% less than the private seller was asking and with free shipping, warranty, and a 30 day return policy!

I'm looking forward to comparing the Rosewood H12 with my Mahogany K model. Also in the stable (until I can sell them to repurchase my status in the household as a fiscally responsible father) is a Bourgeois JOMC, a Lowden S12, and a Webber OM. I'm hoping to sell two and get back to a comfortable 3.

It will be a long week of checking the shipment status waiting for my new toy!

Brian

(update: Guitar specs were clearly wrong in the ad and it's headed back to TFOA. If anyone wants a Froggy H12 with 1 11/16" nut width I can definitely recommend this one!)

Those are great guitars, Brian. Congratulations. Every Froggy Bottom guitar that I’ve played is an instrument that I would have liked to own. I can’t think of any other guitar brands where I feel exactly the same.

Of course, you already own one, so you knew that going in!

Have fun with it when arrives, but you DO need to stop long enough between playing sessions to eat, sleep, use the toilet and breathe once in a while!

So glad the guitar came to you. Spruce over und Rw? No cutaway, right? Built when??

It’s a very different guitar than the bigger K in my experience. Scale length can be different: the intimacy and presence is quite different in my experience. I love playing both as my son’s K lives with me often. I’ll be interested to see how they strike you.

Report back when I’ve gotten to know it

Hans

Ohhhh man...... You're going to be in store for a TREAT!!!!

Super congrats on the purchase. We would love to see pictures!!!!

I've found the rosewood backed Frogs to have a sublime magical shimmer that is so hard to find in other guitars. They truly are special. The H12 is the closest thing to their 'flagship' model. You scored big time. Plus, you were able to nab one on the used market before Michael Millard retires later this year. This is a great score and we'd love to hear more about your reaction.

Just so you know, usb_chord set the bar pretty high with a video of his new Frog. No pressure...

Hahaha - If I could play that well I wouldn't need a Froggy to sound good!

But seriously, the next few days are going to be long.

Thanks to all for the kinds words.

Among my favorite sizes, but I have a question. The description says

The H12 is Froggy Bottom's 000-style guitar with a 12 fret neck which automatically places the bridge a bit backwards

The lower part of the body is the same as the 14 fretter, the scale is the same, the overall length is the same, so how does the bridge move when you enlarge the top end of the body to make it 12 frets instead of 14?
