Default Ford Vs Ferrari

Just go see it, Matt Damon and Christian Bale are excellent as Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles and the racing footage is amazing.

I'll wait until it appears on ebay in DVD format. That way I can put it on hold for eat/restroom breaks, back it up to hear dialog again and not be annoyed/distracted by fellow theater folks with their cell phones and commentary!

...and YOU control the volume! Theaters blast the sound way too loud for my ears.

Might take awhile?
We wait a week or two and then go to a matinee.
Cheaper and way less people.

My beef is the excessive dynamic range the mixers go for.

Saw it tonight with two of my sons. We really enjoyed it, and the sound level was fine.

Or, you can watch the new documentary on Netflix called “The 24 hour war”. It is about the very same topic and surely more factual although likely less “entertaining”.

I'm a supreme car nerd, and have long been familiar with the Ford/Ferrari showdown of the 1960s.

That being said, I liked this movie pretty well.

It was definitely hollywooded up quite a bit. It is fairly short on technical detail and fairly long on developing interpersonal drama. They definitely streamlined the story by leaving things out and merging others together to form a narrative. Not everyone is a car geek like me, so that is understandable.

Matt Damon (pronounced the "Team America" way, of course) makes a convincing Carroll Shelby. Can't put my finger on it, but he did a great job of it. The actor playing Henry Ford II also did a helluva job. Christian Bale was good, but honestly I don't really know what Ken Miles was actually like, so no basis for comparison. They kind of unfairly demonized Leo Beebe, who wasn't really a bad guy at all - but I guess the movie needed somebody for the audience to hate?

There were a bunch of good comic relief moments, that got a good chuckle from most of the theatre.

In summary, it is NOT a documentary - but rather, a dramatized story based on real events. Viewed from that perspective I really enjoyed it. But again, it is not a documentary. I was pleased that a movie like this performed (much) better than any of the "big name" movie franchises.
