Absolutely gorgeous wood, and wood that nice, I think it speaks for itself without any (much?) need for bling...Mau, I'd encourage you to keep it to a minimum and let such gorgeous wood shine on its own...you got lucky with the back and sides, for sure...

Hi, Mau,
Really looking forward to seeing this baby get started. I'm guessing it should be any time now, right? What are the appointment specs you are "pretty sure" about at this point (purfling, fingerboard inlay, etc.)? I think the last we heard from you on that you were still deliberating about what you were going for with this build. |

Guys, I'm going with less bling this time around -- but it's definitely NOT because of the nearly unbearable peer pressure here on the AGF...
When I held the JTSM I knew I had to have a similarly plain model. It had such a nice vibe to it. My guitar will feature Jim's #1 fingerboard inlays along with a few minor visual upgrades -- but otherwise it will be very close to the JTSM. |

I would guess by end of summer or some time this fall. Jim can't really guess that far ahead so he'll just do his best and I can see the progress through the photo updates. I'm not particularly anxious either (I play a nice SJ every day...) so this works well for me. Currently I'm mostly excited about the mandolin since I've never owned one and I can't wait to practice my scales and arpeggios on such a diminutive instrument... |

I do somewhat regret not getting some simple fingerboard marker inlays on my SJ, and perhaps not going for a BRW+abalone rosette, but I'll just have to get those on my next Charis |

I am very excited to share with you the latest pictures of my upcoming SJ.
As I have previously indicated, we're going for the 90s look on this guitar. Everything is "vintage spec" except for the veneer on the back of the headstock. Having a short name makes it easier for Jim to identify the various parts. In a few months, I will be the proud owner of #1419 and #1449. I had seen pictures of the back and sides but here's the first time that I see the top. I'm very, very pleased with it. I didn't even have to mention run-out as Jim knows my tastes by now. |

Here's the beautiful piece of BRW that Jim kindly selected.
The sides taking shape. The top goes on. |

Awesome, Mau! Have you decided what inlay(s) for the fretboard yet? Very excited to see this coming together.

Certificate of authenticity.
Closing the box. I really love the colour and the figure of the BRW. Once finished I think it will be spectacular. 42 style extension. Mitered joints. Group shot. |

That is going to be stunning under finish, and I agree, the top is really nice. I love the inlay that will wrap the fretboard! Just beautiful.
