It does matter - to me. One misspelled word bugs me because you can't type a word incorrectly without the screen screaming at you "You screwed up. Repent.". However, the human brain is fascinating and fills in the blanks so we don't go nuts.

As we now know, the human brain can take on many forms...

I like to read early American journals. Especially from the mountain trappers and pioneers. The spelling and word usage is always interesting.

Fascinating, indeed, that that same poster began a thread with this very exact passage back on March 6, 2018; and, exponentially incredible is that the same individual first responded to both of those guitar george threads--robj144.

Here's guitar george's post from the aforementioned date of March 6, 2018, from a thread he started over at The Spelling's Not Too Good:

Tihs pnehmoneon is wlel konwn and udnresotod.

I can pick a mis-spelt word in a page instantly, of course it is more common when reading American spellings.

My hands often mis-spell certain words for instance I simply cannot type frindes correctly. There are other words that I always mis-type, that i would never mis-spell if I were writing.

I know a guy who cannot help but mistype but cannot see his errors. In that group, our favourite error is "Sniger-snogwirters"!

There is a left wing newspaper in the UK called the Guardian. Their miss-spelling became infamous and it is still often referred to as the "Grauniad".
