Post Posted Rainsong shorty for sale in classifieds-SOLD

Hi All,

I posted a mint 2015 Rainsong shorty for sale in classifieds. It seems like CF guitars don't get a lot of attention in classifieds, so I'm also posting here to see if anyone is interested. Please PM me if interested. Thanks for looking.

Also consider adding your sale to your signature block so it'll be seen in all your posts.

The shorty looks fantastic. I am about a month out from purchasing another CF guitar so if you still have it then let me know, but I hope you do get it sold for your needs.

You must be a charter member at a small cost to advertise in the classifieds.

Unless you're trying to slip in an unrelated post about your guitar for sale without being a charter member.

To stay on-topic here, the Shorty is a great guitar, and at that price, it should go pretty quick.

My Shorty sold in 2 days after listing it in the classifieds. It has to be priced right. Not sure of the price on yours...so I'm not implying anything.

Thanks for the suggestions, I just added it to my signature block. I bought the shorty new around December last year and have only played it a few times before the shoulder pain came up this year. If anyone is interested, feel free to make an offer. I'm also interested in trades such as Taylor x12ce, 000/concert size guitars.

List price is $2666, and a good ballpark price for a used copy in mint condition is about 50% list, so $1333. His is currently $1450 shipped, which is pretty close and therefore a pretty good deal. I've actually been contemplating adding a Shorty, but the request of using PayPal "friends and family" for a merchandise purchase or paying a surcharge (both of which are against PayPal's policies) made me skip this one.

I've bought several guitars from the acoustic forum and the sellers I bought from always request me to pay by paypal friends/family. However, I can certainly do regular PayPal and cover the PayPal fees.

The 50% list formula works for brands that are more abundant, and are deeply discounted new, but not so much for Rainsong, in my experience. I see used examples selling anywhere from a low of 50% of list, to as high as 70% of list. Given that buying a used Rainsong carries little risk, I'm not surprised by some of the higher selling prices.

I wondered if it might be different for CF guitars. For me, though, ones selling at the high end of that (for a Shorty, around $1800 give or take) simply do not interest me when I can by it brand spanking new for $1999.00 Guess it's just a psychological thing of having something "brand new" for so close to the same price as a used copy.
