Default Thought this was amusing - an "Al Hambra" guitar...

I was checking out the Goodwill auction website, and saw an "Alhambra" guitar advertised - http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions...-16926184.html - upon further inspection of the pics included, I discovered this was an "AL HAMBRA" guitar...not quite the same...

$5 plus shipping to find out what the original label says? Can't be any worse than "AL HAMBRA," can it? Somebody has to jump on this and report back. And in anticipation of the "aren't you somebody?" replies, I'll point out that shipping to New Zealand is probably not allowed and certainly cost prohibitive!

I never fail to be let down by Goodwill listings.

They occasionally have some good stuff - you just have to wade through the 95% that is crap...

They frequently carry Antonius Stradivarius brand violins (as opposed to Antonio Stradivari whose violins are correctly called Stradivari but usually known as Stradivarius).

Not even "Caveat Emptor" more like "complete fraud"

I'm currently doing research, having developed an interest in the violin, and find that almost everyone says their violin is a Stradivarius copy, even with a label, which is commonplace. Everyone knows it is not an actual authentic Strad, when it's selling for $400.

Being Italian, the spelling Antonio Stradivari is correct, but he used the Latin spelling "Antonius Stradiuarius" until 1730, on his labels, and "Antonius Stradivarius" a Roman spelling in his final years.

Someone needs to take one for the team, and get it.

Not me.

Oh, of course! That's part of the fun of watching these - someone is going to pay good money for a "Windaroo" - http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions...-16926214.html - $253 right now!

Unless this is something quite different, I own a garbage-can-rescue "Windaroo" branded instrument - a cheap Chinese-made copy of an Ovation - and it is a true POS, destined to someday become a guitar lamp...

It is currently in a closet at the lab - along with an Esteban with a sinking soundhole...
