Default I'm officially old...

I'm watching a replay of Saturday Night Live, and I'd never heard of anyone except Keenan Thompson. The only reason I'd heard of him was that my adult son as a child used to watch Keenan & Kel on TV....

It's pretty hilarious how I've nearly completely lost touch with celebrities outside of music, starting in the early 80's.

Now, I don't even know faces let alone names.

Best part? I don't care

Ignorance is definitely bliss

I should watch that one of these days, it's been decades.

What night is it on again?

My 1980s were spent in long evening recording sessions and I lost touch with nighttime TV entirely for a stinkin' decade. My first memory of evening TV was in 1990, rushing home to watch the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, live on TV.

He's been a regular on SNL longer than anyone else starting on the show in 2003...

They've got a talented group of kids these days. Chloe Fineman is an excellent impressionist, as is James Austin Johnson. Keenan is the glue holding the whole show together kind of like Phil Hartman did back in the day. Sarah Sherman's "body horror" comedy is an acquired taste but awesome for those who tend toward absurd humor (like I do.) Colin and Che are a terrific Weekend Update team, at times as funny as any Update has ever been. (Their consistent best is on the last show of every season when they write jokes for each other but can't read them beforehand. Their laughter is genuine and contagious.)

I live in a forested exurb of Anchorage where the only broadcast channels I can get are ABC and PBS. We don’t watch enough TV to justify paying for cable, never have, so whatever SNL I see is from clips on YouTube.

The current cast is good, and worth watching. The cast for the ten or so years preceding with Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong was one of the all-time best casts the show has ever had, so this current cast has a tough act to follow.

They’re just getting their sea legs now.

I know that I am old because the only SNL episodes I like were in the 70’s. I have been watching the new episodes for about a year and don’t remember laughing out loud once. I did enjoy Kasey Musgraves last night but most of the music has passed me by. I think I may go back to reading because I do get enjoyment and entertainment there. Ymmv

For a while when asked to do something I was reluctant to do, I would say
'Homey don't play that'. Those who knew the skit with Homey the Clown would laugh out loud.

I can remember not going out until after SNL was over.
