The curly maple neck is carved and almost ready for finishing (this one is getting a special finish treatment which I am really excited about!).

And the volute, one of my favourite sculptural features of a guitar [emoji7]

Here is a full-body shot of the guitar almost ready to send for finishing - can't wait to hear it sing, already I can sense that it's super acoustically responsive!

Thanks so much! I'm anxious to be sending it off to Vancouver Guitar Finishing. I'm waiting for a couple other guitars to get back to me from them then this one is off!

Thanks!! It's ready for finish now, just waiting for a couple guitars to get back from Rob and John at Vancouver Guitar Finishing then she'll (or he'll?) be off!
The rosette just came to me, I'm not sure if it's from seeing various other similar rosettes and doing my take on them or what... but I think the fact that it ends in a segmented rosette balances nicely with the space the cutaway takes away from the top. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why "my eye" wanted it this way, regardless I'm happy with it!
Cheers,
-Zach

Might have been a temporary glitch, I can see them now!

I am just realizing that I haven't posted this picture yet. Here is the finished back with patenized copper and black line inlay to match binding. I love how it pops against the cocobolo yet fits perfectly with the simple binding scheme.

Beautiful work Zach. The neck will look great contrasting with the coco and tying in with the top. I don't know what the opinions people here have on Osmo Poly X hard oil wax is for guitars, but I really like it, especially on necks. Feels like silk. I also really like satin finishes more and more. I guess more important is how guitar buyers feel about it. LOL. Russ

I love satin finishes too, Russ. From what I understand glossy finishes are in higher demand in the handmade guitar market... but there's a part of me that just wants to do away with gloss finishes all together and see what happens.

The "cococopper" guitar is back from the finisher finally and it's on its final steps to completion!
Couldn't be happier with Rob and John's finish work on this one (Vancouver Guitar finishing)!
And now you get to see the neck!
